So I heard you liked making high quality images... well I have a mission for you if you want to have some fun. If you can make 19x19 px png emotes I can alter the chat emotes to these custom images! Seriously, just you wait this will be epic if we pull it off.
I made one myself but it comes out kinda... grainy, mainly because it's so small but I'm sure you/someone else on this wiki can definitely do better. I'll let you know more details soon!
why did you delete that? that seemed like a good idea!
Because we don't need a meme page on the wiki. A wiki is a knowledge database, not a collecting pond for jokes. If you insist making such page, please do that on your profile page.
Oh and please use the signature button the next time you leave a message, it makes it easier to know who I'm writing with.
As discussed, I'm going to be away for a bit. Policing the wiki isn't going to change a bit but I'll be unable to pass userbans in case of emergency.
In the event that this becomes entirely necessary (ie agressive spamming by a single user) lego can be reached here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/lego6245/
Only contact him if the same user keeps monkeying around and won't respond to warnings, otherwise for any minor problems, such as one-time spammers or such, just compile a list of all the fellows you want executed come the next week and I'll see to it they reach the gallows appropriately. If you could, also link specifically to the pages/edits they made so I can take a look-see.
Hey Doomspeaker, nice work on those clean (and transperent) high resolution images! How did you get them? Did you extract them from the game directly somehow?
And do you also have image of these "turrets" lying around? You know, those stationary stone faces who are indestructible like Pokies, which are located between one to three in the middle of the room and keep spitting on you (like the torches in the original Legend of Zelda), which also come in a green hue in WotL and shoot IPECAC. There's (currently) no official name for them, but "turrets" is probably the best name we could use for them.
A while ago i made "Turret" a redirect page to Host since some call them that as well (or at least Northernlion... although i think even he calls both enemies that), but that was probably not the best idea. I didn't think of this stationary grimaces back then, and it's probably the best to make this article about them. --Lynel (talk) 20:49, July 1, 2012 (UTC)
They are indeed ripped from the game. I'm gonna look into the turrets.
Or if you want, get in touch with me privately and I send you the link. Yeah, I think that would be better since that would also mean you could help me with updating the images.
Wow, that was fast :D Unfortunately i won't have much time in the next couple of days - but i'd be glad to help you out, even if this might take until wednesday. How complicated was the ripping process exactly? Is it worth explaining, or would you rather like to just fetch all the images yourself?
Also i read on Instagram (about a week or two ago) that Edmund has been working on the credits to include the Halloween and Wrath of the Lamb enemies. This will finally provide us with all the official names, so we should maybe wait with uploading them until he's done with that, so we don't have to reupload them all once the official names are known.
I wanted to do the Turret article now though since he said he'd check the wiki to make sure his list is complete, and he missed those stone grimaces already (as opposed to the pokies) even though they were among the first enemies - so i wanted to make sure this doesn't happen again :D --Lynel (talk) 21:51, July 1, 2012 (UTC)
I didn't rip them, somebody else did that thankfully ^^. So there are all graphics up to the pint before 1.3.
Oh and I took the liberty to rename the IPECAC Turrets into Vomit Turrets, since it has pretty much established, that the projectile type is called "Vomit".
I was about to comment on the Vomit Turret as well, but i got an edit conflict since you ninja'd your response before i could submit what i wanted to say :D
That's okay, I initially called it "IPECAC Turret" because Edmund himself once called these type of shots "IPECAC" (which does make sense, since it's functionally the same). But in a game where tears inflict damage, vomit might as well cause explosions and poison. So that seems like a good name. Especially if this in fact established as "Vomit". --Lynel (talk) 22:02, July 1, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, good work on renaming the enemies that got an official name that was different from the previous, unofficial one (which was about everyone - even the Mulibooms, which are apparently written with just one "l" according to Edmund).
But why did you make MemBrain a redirect to Brain and included the information about it as a section there? This doesn't seem like a good idea, since it's not even an alternate form of Brain. They're only encountered in the Womb as opposed to Brains. This logic would degrade Hives to a sub-section of the Fly article as well, don't you think?
Also i think we should give Slide a seperate article for a similar reason - aside from having the same shape as Poky it's basically another enemy.
Btw, do you still need my help with enemy images? Let me know if you want me to help out somehow. --Lynel (talk) 16:08, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
Maybe you noticed that I updated a huge amount of pictures, including those of every enemy there is.
As for MemBrain and Mama Guts, i grouped them, because Krysto once decided to group Embryo together will Blastocyst (which kinda works the same way) and because they thematically tie together.
As for Poky and Slide (sorry that I'm dumb and read it as Siide >.<), both of the are kind of similar and fall under the same enemy group.
If you want to help, you could set out for missing screenshots of the new champion bossen, sinc i need the color of those to later produce a better picture of them.
I can try to do a screenshot of a champion boss the next time i happen to fight one. Others in the community seem to have already uploaded most forms by now though, so i'll need to be lucky to fight the right one :P
What do you mean by "i need the color to produce a better picture of them?" Do you plan to ink them in photoshop, or does the guy that provided you with the clean pictures need a screenshot to know in which color he has to extract the boss for some reason?
Another good idea would be having a video of the respective champion boss fights, we could maybe ask on the Steam if some users want to help out on that.
Embryo and Blastocyst is different from MemBrain and Mama Guts since embryos are simply the last state of this boss. (Which is why one can also see their health bar - they're not regarded as regular enemies by the game). They could be considered a special form of downgraded boss that - unlike other bosses - can already appear in the Basement. Embryos are comparable to the last phase of Fistula or Teratoma (before they crumble and set free a Charger/Boom Fly or a Spider).
I agree that MemBrain and Mama Guts tie together with the enemies they split up into since they can be considered as those enemies' big counterparts. But they appear in different areas. You could regard Mama Guts as an alternate form of MemBrain, but i would just give them seperate articles.
Same thing with Slides and Pokies. Think about it, they don't have much in common when you ignore their similar appearance. Slides are far more common than Pokies in The Depths, and especially in Cathedral. And they appear in specific patterns. Therefore i'm not sure if they're an alternate form of Pokies.
But even if they're not: I'd overall just give each alternate form a seperate article. This would take things a step further i admit, but i think it's for the better. Take Leeches for example. Their black alternate form can replace them and count as champion, but is almost exclusively found in Sheol, while the white ones are are more common in Cathedral. It would also make Categorizing pages easier i think, since many enemies currently are listed as "Monsters added in Wrath of the Lamb, although this just applies to their alternate forms. If we give each alternate form a seperate article, we can give them a category for that.
The argument for keeping them on a single page is that they can be spawned by mostly the same means and that some alternate forms might not have much to write about. But the Mulligan article for example has gotten rather lengthy.
But if we're going to add a infobox to each monster, we could add a parameter to immediately show alternate forms/regular forms, so one can easily navigate from page to page and see the differences easily, while the seperate forms can be categorized seperately. I know it's a long way up to that point, though.
Yet note that we already act this way with the alternate boss forms (Steven, C.H.A.D., Gish and Triachnid). When we use infoboxes, the paramenter that shows that they're basicaly just a replacement for Gemini, Chub, Monstro II and Daddy Long Legs could be used as well.
Regarding the I. Blob (or L. Blob?) i think the easiest way to find out would be asking Edmund.
I'm sorry for the lengthy reply, but i hope i made my point more comprehensible that way. --Lynel (talk) 15:32, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
Mulligan still has lots of redundant information, which explains it's length. Mama Guts and MemBrain might be the only chases that differ much form their smaller versions. For the others, they are more or less "upgraded versions".
Like Hoppers and Leapers for example: the only big difference is that Leapers have a pinpoint jump which is followed by a cross-bullet spread. This leads to lots of stup articles. The same is true for addon related stuff. You can see so many game-wikis that treat addons like "stepchildren" because they are torn out of any article for the sake of putting them in a seperate categories.
In the end you have to decide between categorizing or useability.
The infobox is kinda experimental, and I left it for the Mulligan page, but it sure would need work.
As for the alternative colored bosses, I eyeball the colors from the screenshot and tint a higher resolution sprite of the boss.
And the question's already sent, so let's hope Ed answers it.
True, i should consider the reason for the length of the Mulligan article.
Hmm, if you insist on keeping Mama Guts/MemBrains in a subsection of their subsegments, so be it :P
Ironically your Hopper/Leaper example is an exception where the enemies stronger counterpart has yet another difference: Leapers can't turn into F. Leapers. But i get your point, there are similarities.
So if i'm not mistaken we seem to have three different kinds of alternate forms:
the basic form (e.g. Mulligan)
the alternate form that can replace the basic one. it comes with different name and appearance (e.g. Mulligoon)
the "relative"/"descendant" that has similarities to the basic form in appearance and behavior. name and appearance are different, its attacks are more powerful and it will appear on higher levels. but it can't replace the original and is technically a seperate enemy (e.g. The Hive)
the champion form, which can apply to any of the above.
I'm not entirely sure where i'd put Mullibooms here. I think technically they are "relatives", since they don't seem to be an alternate form: They can only spawn in The Cellar, and i haven't seen rooms where Mulligans and Mullibooms are mixed.
Therefore i would at least refrain from putting "relatives" in the same article. But i see we have two different philosophies about listing enemies. You prefer grouping them inside "families" and have articles about each "monster race" that lists all variations of them.
I on the other hand think we should list each enemy seperately if it appears in different locations. Hoppers for example basically don't need any mention about Leapers (except for the Trivia section) since you don't need to know anything about Leapers to know everything practical about Hoppers. An article about Leapers can explain their behavior seperately. It can mention similarities to Hoppers since they're their replacement in higher levels, but they are a different enemies and appear in different room layouts (e.g. often with stone grimaces).
It's often a question of either categorizing or useability indeed. I think it's possible to do both simultaneously.
But i admit that this isn't doable without a good navigation system. As you said, the infobox we have now is still experimental. You can remove it from the Mulligan article if you want until this is more established.
As you possibly heard, there are people that checked the source code of BoI and were able to document the exact data of each enemy/item etc. Once Edmund says that BoI received his final and ultimate update, we could start using this data for the infoboxes, and would get mathematically exact data on each enemies health, speed, and last but not least where and when it or its alternate forms may spawn.
Edmund didn't reply to the question yet, or did he? --Lynel (talk) 16:57, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
Sadly, Ed has not answered the question :/ (But a user guessed it could mean Isaac Blob, and that sounds pretty logic, so I'm satisfied)
As for categories, why not use #redirect? I checked right before writing this and it works fine for searching purposes. If it's for searching listing etc purposes that would do the trick.
And Mulliboom indeed is nothing like his cowardly silblings. ^^
As for the hacked game, I think you refere to Omega from gamefaqs: he said, that you cannot see which values are assigned to which enemies easily.
When the final update is out maybe it's time to look into the code myself and see if I can get some data out of this.
Meanwhile I'll try to add the suggestions to the template.
Here's the code.
<tabber>
insertsomethinghere=
|-|
anythingelse=
(If you need more tabs, just add another |-|)
</tabber>
Make sure you add it in source mode. Otherwise, it'll come out glitched. Also, you MAY need to add <br> tags. Also, make sure there's enter spaces between each individual "section". This IS what you're talking about, right? DMSwordsmasterTalkContributionsFile:Dark Matter Floating.gif 01:56, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
Actually i meant a simple collapsable list, but what you showed me here is also quite interessting!
Were you trying to create a navigation box that can be collapsed like this? Afaik this doesn't work on wikia, since they're apparently using a rather shitty and outdated wiki version (in modern wikis you can also simply rename images for instance). --Lynel (talk) 15:37, July 10, 2012 (UTC)
Check the Monsters page. Apparently Krysto fullfilled my wish and imported the needed functions. But moving to a newer wiki would be kind of nice. Any thoughts on this?
I don't know anything about upgrading/changing the wiki platform unfortunately. Tbh i'm already surprised Krysto could make expandable tables happen (which should proof to be very useful though!), i thought every wiki on wikia would use the same software :P --Lynel (talk) 17:00, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
Hi I met you in the chat yesterday. I was the guy who makes the item guide videos in youtube. BonelessJones was the youtube name. I thought because you being high ranked editor here could link my videos to the item names. So when you press the item name it takes it to the correct video. Today going to upload a new video so I will keep them coming. Here is my channel URL you can check the videos from there www.youtube.com/user/BonelessJones
My plan is to make video about every item in the game including the DLC.
"bonus for another alt account and for vandalizing user pages." Edit
I'd really like to know what second alternate account and vandalism of user pages you're talking about. I don't think you're being fair at this point because you already banned me for "misbehaving" and "creating an alternate account", which I respect. I deleted that second account like ten minutes after I made it. I haven't created a third or vandalized user pages, so I have no idea what you're talking about. Care to show me? I currently have one account. I had that second account, but it's gone. I haven't done anything bad since the day you banned me the first time. If you don't answer me THIS time, I'm just going to ask Krysto because I didn't even do anything this time.
And with alt account I mean the first one (sorry for writing it down not clearly enough). I just didn't have the time to do something about it.
Oh and using this as your personal myspace isn't a great deal either. The sites picture hoster is supposed to be for wiki related material not you mathematical equations (which is why i replace it by another picture).
And don't go around and play dumb, I explained to you why you were banned. If you want understand and accept the reasons (in your case gathering od data and massive, i repeate MASSIVE spam, which didn't stop after multiple warnings) however is another story.
Oh please, don't think that you can walz in here and run arround accusing people of something. You are right, users who actually contibute to the wiki might get one or two warnings more before they are banned, because they actually care to do something for the wiki.
Okay, first of all I was editing my profile when I uploaded that equation photo. I thought it just uploaded to the space on my profile. SORRY I'M NEW AND DIDN'T KNOW IT UPLOADED TO THE WHOLE WIKI. Not like it tells you. It had a space to add a photo so I figured I would add that one. I didn't know it didn't just go on my page.
If you look at my ban history you already banned me for the first alternate account after banning me for misbehaving. Not like I didn't do my research before I came and talked to you. The way my ban history looks it appeared than you banned me the third time for creating a third account and using it to vandalize other's pages.
I still don't know what you're talking about on Spike's page, tbh. I wrote a post on his talk page. If you're talking about his profile information, I didn't write that. I don't even know how to format like that. If it was a crime to say hi to him on his talk page and tell him to find another page, I apologize because well I thought talk pages were for talking to someone...
What on earth do you want me to do to contribute to the wiki, huh? I've only made it to mom once and I died in ten seconds. What could I possibly contribute that isn't already here?
Making "alt accounts", or as we like to call them, "Sock puppets", is entirely against wikia policy. Making an alt account after your main account gets banned is just shameful. One asshole did it oneseveral times, and he got globally disabled by Wikia. Yeah. No one likes it.
I'm not trying to edit the wiki because I know i can't, that's the point. And I know it's against wikia policy now. I got rid of that alternate account. I apologized for that. I only did it once because I didn't know what it meant. Like I said, I own up to misbehaving in the chat and making that account and I accept the first two bans completely. But the third ban is just a combnation of the second ban and something that doesn't even make any sense. I don't see why I should be banned twice for the same thing along with banned for saying Hi to someone on their talk page. I'll take my punishment for my first two crimes, but I don't see how on earth I commited a third.
What I don't see is why you're going crazy over chat. What's so fucking good about chat?? All you do is sit there and discuss shit with a bunch of twats. Wikis are meant for editing, not socialization. That's why we have sites like Youtube and Facebook and all that shit. Stay on a wiki where you know what you're doing and can make good edits. And if there's a chat room, bonus.
And even then, I mainly socialize with my peers on other wikis via talk page. So yeah, getting off topic, all that shit. I don't know enough about this to make a valid argument. I'm not an admin. (I fucking should be, though. I've been with this wiki since the beginning. And we're in desperate need of another admin to clean up the shit these retarded Anons are making.) DMSwordsmasterTalkContributionsFile:Dark Matter Floating.gif 01:02, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Honestly, I'm just upset about the third ban because I'm getting accused of vandalism I didn't do. I asked someone on the VSTF and he reviewed the page and told me what I said wasn't vandalism. I'm just against unfair treatment.
Hi, this edit is not Nothingpersonal62394, that account is somebody from another wiki and I don't know why they're messing with other user's profiles but I'll leave that for the admins here to decide what to do. That account is not hers and the IP doesn't match up. Also, I don't see anything wrong with the messages see left other users, it's okay to be a little social. --Austin(Talk) 01:09, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! At least somebody knows I didn't vandalize Spike's page.
Thanks for pointing that out Austin. I admit that I made a mistake here and will fix my fault.
To avoid further missunderstandings here's what you did, and what ban you got for it.
'SPAM (2' weeks) : You proceeded to spam the hell out of the wiki even after I warned you multiple times. Even if we leave the social stuff out that's worth 1-2 weeks, considering you did this a few days straight.
Sock puppeting (ban end of August, 1 month): I told you not to come back with another account. Your respone ? "Hey guys I found a loophole in the wiki" - from a new account.
As for then vandalizing: No i meant the user front page only. The talk page you can use howeven you want (well if it follows the normal rules like posting no porn etc). Nobody ever said otherwise.
And I'm pretty sure you have to agree on the terms of wikia before being abse to register here. I know that there are lots of rules and that you don't want to sit down for hours just to memorize them. Not knowing what you should not do, however, does not give you to right to get away with it. If there are some more obscure rules like the social data gathering stuff, we will inform you that you do something wrong before taking any measures.
As for the alternative account: It is even written down in the chat rules. And a link to those is shown everytime you or someone else joins the chat.
You also always get warned before any kind of sanction. ALWAYS. It's just that people won't take it seriously. You get told why you are banned too, but don't expect me to argue with you afterwards. You had to chance to do that while you after a warning.
And about contributions: It's not that every user has to contribute to the wiki. Some come here for help via the chat, for pictures of the game etc...
You however do almost nothing related with the BoI here. The only thing I ever heard from you about the game was that you did not make it to mom even once and that you were even too cheap to buy the game (5$, that's not even an average Mc Donald's Meal -.-) so you pirated it.
The rest were complaints about your personal life. If you want to talk about that, ok, no problem. But if you are here only to complain and seek real life advce, I would suggest finding a more appropriate website.
One last word about contributions: Everyone has to start once.
You can ask other users how to do it. You can google to find out how stuff works. You can look at pages other people made. You can even try out how to edit stuff on your own user page. If one wants to help a wiki, there are always ways to do that. If you have no clue, you can even ask me to do an edit for you.
Saying that you are new and that there is nothing to contribtue to just comes off lazy. That is my PERSONAL oppinon as a wiki user.
If you still have questions that were not answered, go on and ask, since I don't want any more missunderstandings and wrong assumtions here.
Oh and I prefer Doomspeaker or and abbreviation of that name.
@ DMSwordmaster: We really need more admin to prevent that wiki from becoming as mess. Somehow, Lego like non-existant these days. Still trying to reach him.
All I wanna know is what spam to the wiki you're referring to that you supposedly warned me about so I can get a handle on not doing whatever that was for you because I'm pretty srue that prior to being banned the only place I went was in the chat room and I didn't edit anything at all. If you were talking about that math picture, like I told you when I added it I added it while editing my personal profile and thought it only showed up in that little box labeled add photo here and after you changed it, I wasn't the one who kept reverting it. I only changed it to the new new photo because I didn't think that Soup would stop reverting it.
Hey now, you made it seem like two completely different enteties so don't go all bold and caps on me. You just word things badly sometimes, no offense.
Oh I see. So let's just make this 100% clear, since I'm a little slow and all. My ban log is as follows:
23:44, July 15, 2012 Doomspeaker (Talk | contribs) changed ban settings for Nothingpersonal62394 (Talk | contribs) with an expiry time of 1 month, ends 23:44, August 14, 2012 (bonus for another alt account and for vandalizing user pages. )
and the third ban expiration (August 14) is still the expration of my ban without the mistake of a vandalism charge you made, despite the fact that ban number two was for the alternate account, because ban number two (ending July 27) should have originally been an additional three and a half weeks rather than one additonal week to the first ban (ending July 20) and you had made a mistake on that ban. Am I correct?
That's what i meant by fixing my misstake.
Actually I can't set the ban to a specific date, the chat only allows for days, weeks or months to be added to ban, and if I add up three single one week bans, it could glitch out and end up ending on a date I have no clue about. So yep August 7 would sound right. I either try to ask krysto how to change this, or if that fails you send me a message at the time of August the 7th AFTER 23:44 UTC, so I can do that manually.
So even though the ban says it's over on the 14th, it's really over on the 7th and you're going to try to figure out how to change it to that, otherwise I send you a message probably on the 8th because I'll be asleep after that time and you will manually remove the ban?
Also I would like to add, that after the ban you are on probation (1-2 weeks), which means spam etc wields longer bans. Don't worry it's standart procedure and nothing against you alone.
But I hope you learned your lesson and it won't come to that. ^^
Hey thanks! And no worries, I'm already on real life probation so internet probation's a piece of cake, I know how to behave once I've misbehaved :3 BTW, I like that you fixed the music on your page, it amuses me when I come on :D
Thanks for making this awesome image for the "heart-attack" fan item idea! I suck at spriting and you rule! :-D 88.153.165.247 14:45, July 18, 2012 (UTC)Luigisopa
FER FUKS SAKE MAN WEN DE FUQ AR U GUNA GIT DAT IMAJ TWO MEH I AHM IMPACHIENT Kidding. I would, at the very least, like to know if it's coming along at all.
Also, somewhat unrelated, but you never did get that Super Pride image. I'M JUST THROWING ALL SORTS OF SHIT AT YOU AREN'T I Sorry, it's just that I can't vector things like you can. And the only people who could are now long gone. Except TheBindingofLordIsaac, but his work is... erm. How to put it delicately... It... tends to have some errors. It seems he just recolors it himself instead of actually vectoring the image. So yeh. Sorry for sounding so impatient and annoying and whiny and all dat shit :C DMSwordsmasterTalkContributionsFile:Dark Matter Floating.gif 23:02, July 18, 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I'm having a break from the wiki right now, you know summer etc.
As for super pride, I have no high res of him, neither were I ever able to meet this duo, to make a good screenshot to work from either.
Also the it frustrates me how the wiki once again has become a dump for totally shitty fan ideas. At least now pumping out that "stuff" is a bit harder for them.
OK, OK, I know you're warning me about the collection page. But what should I do to save myself from a ban!? -ZangiefB 18:00, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
You get one, simple as that. Ignoring people is certainly not the way to go and that we should not reward that by letting you slip under the radar.
Doomspeaker 19:08, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
Nope, but I'm simply not done, and talking about it would be kinda useless. If you want to supply some reference (pictures, as description) for your picture, you could do that now before I can't make revisions anymore.
Sorry, just going through some depression recently. I'd like my picture to be, like, of my character leaping or charging, like say, The Hollow's picture. With sick fangs. Crazy sick.
I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT CENSORING ANYTHING!!!!! If I AM, please tell me how I can stop. I will NOT be happy if I am banned from this wiki for nothing.-ZangiefB 20:34, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
I'm shaking in my chair right now afraid of the fact I'm either going to be banned from this wiki or not. OK, the reason I thought Clawshotter stole my fan idea of Ultra Envy is because he both behaves the same and has a similar look. The only difference is the drops. One more thing, what should I do to save myself from getting banned from this great wiki for nothing!?!?! -ZangiefB 21:07, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
Simple, don't censor again, that was the only problem with you.
And Envy ideas all centery around him splitting up and doing some kind of bullet/vomit/beam attack afterwards. ;P
On the main page, under the big picture, there is a yellow button, that says Join the Chat.
I don't know why, but it isn't there. D:
Go and look for it, the recent activities page also has the caht in the side bar.
Thank you very, very much for sparring me, Doomspeaker. I'm very happy I'm not going to be banned anymore, And I will start contributing to this amazing wiki again. :) -ZangiefB 22:22, July 20, 2012 (UTC)
Im not that good in english but the thing i don't understand is: Everytime i do the pictures in the side under it shoes the pictures like it was before.Did i miss something? Or did i understand something false?I Really don't want to make a bad work.
If you speak german (i take that from the name), i could explain it in german.
Yeah im german it would be nice if you could explain it in german.
Ok.
Burn them Fire Sonic! 18:13, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

Regarding the message you sent me via steam today; sorry, was out for a walk with friends and just got back, seems I only missed you by a few minutes. We'll discuss the topic a bit more either later tonight or tomorrow when we're both on again. I have my opinions on the matter and a solution in mind; we'll take care of it soon.
To make this signature, copy-paste the code (GO TO SOURCE MODE) onto a separate page, like User:Doomspeaker/Signature. Take that link and add it to your custom signature.
...Well, that's how I did it, anyways. I'm not sure how it works for the new system, sorry.
Hey, Doom, there is somethig I would like to know: Why did you lock down the fan ideas? I've been starting to think this wiki is starting to get a microscopic bit worse, especially since DMSwordmaster deleted one of my favorite pages: Pimp My Isaac. No offence. -ZangiefB (talk) 00:54, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
I noticed that that almsot every boss page had a dead link that was supposed to link to the bosses page, just to make sure there's not another incident like with the infoboxes, I'll just fill em' in to not leave the people unsatisfied. If there's an issue I can always undo it.
Don't worry about the info boxes thing, since you did it in good faith nobody's gonna blame you. Actually, I deleted the redirect from boss to bosses, because I thought that I was not needed, which cuased the links to defunctionate.
Hey, just wondering if you can possibly explain the origin of "blue with envy", since as best I can tell after spending a couple hours researching it, it isn't an idiom of its own. "Green with envy" goes back to Shakespeare, but the only uses of "blue with envy" appear as puns when discussing something that's the color blue. Victoly (talk) 23:11, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
First of all, please make a new header if you send a message.
Blue with envy is used, but is lost less common in english then it is in other languages. Also we can assume that blue was choosen, because green was already taken by sloth. Also not that this is a trivia not a hard fact.
DoomspeakerTalkContributions 23:23, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
There, made a new header. Sorry about the previous edit.
In which language(s) is "blue with envy" a common idiom? Do you have any sources to back this information up? I'd genuinely like to know, because I'm quite skeptical that this is true. You'd think Wikipedia would include a section about "blue with envy" if it was a prominent idiom in another culture, the same way it does for "green with envy."
I'm not debating that Super Envy was made blue so as not to be confused with Sloth, but that doesn't mean that this is a reference to a different idiom.
I'm also very skeptical that a reference to a non-English idiom would be included by English-speaking game designers in a predominantly English game, if such an idiom even exists.
"Trivia" doesn't mean "speculation"; if the trivia is speculation, it should be indicated as such, e.g. "Some believe that Super Envy is blue as a reference to the idiom 'blue with envy'." Just because it's listed as trivia doesn't mean it shouldn't also be held to standards of factuality. Victoly (talk) 23:43, July 27, 2012 (UTC)
I'm gonna be honest with you. Of all the problems users had with the Wiki this is by far the most unimportant one. I wrote my response in the talk. Take that option or let it be. (Note that this is not my personal oppinion on this matter, it's wiki politics). Also I don't care if it's written in the article or not, but two other users (which proofed to be a great asset to this wiki in the past) do.
OK, this is just ridiculous. My favorite pages on the wiki. Permanently destroyed. How will this get any worse!? -ZangiefB (talk) 00:23, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
I completly support that decsion to delete 'Pimp my Isaac', to be honest, most of them weren't even impressive. Though ZangiefB thinks it might be an intresting edtion to the fan wiki. Or somethin' along those lines.
You reverted my correction to the Binding of Isaac item page saying "The room spawning of the mitre is there. If you have no clue refrain from removing stuff". This is patently false. People have examined the source code, and Mitre does only one thing, it significantly increases the chance of hearts to drop as soul hearts. Specifically, it makes the chance 55% rather than the standard 10%. That is its one and only effect.
Aaaand now I'm actually skimming through some of the sourcecode and may have found evidence that contradicts this post I am just now making so I'll get back to you or correct if necessary when I'm absolutely certain one way or another. My bad.
Sorry for the harsh choice of words, I just don't like it when someone comes here and acts like a know it all. Yes most people arround here know the page you linked. Since I wanted to get some solid proof, I went for 4 consecutive runs with the mitre (used Cheat Engine for this) and found no rooms appearing. This is somewhat strange, since I already found Libary in chapel once and an item room in womb in the past. So currently I tend towards some kind of weird bug being patched away or me being unlucky. Anyway this convinced me to leave it as it is for now. Yeah if you got news, make sure to get me an update!
SWS again. Just got word from one of the dudes who is dissecting the source code. The Mitre has absolutely no effect outside of the soul hearts. Treasure rooms can never spawn after the Depths, and afaik Libraries can potentially spawn after the Depths regardless of having Mitre or not, and the Mitre has absolutely no effect on the chances of it occuring.
Actually I am pleased to have finally solved this riddle. I'm sure there are more riddles that would need to be sloved. Any interest? People have bugged us a lot with the angel room for example.
(Btw, lovely how much of an asshole one can be @ the guy posting the code, honestly -.-)
ColorPrinter definitely has a better understanding of the code than I do, sadly. As to the Angel room, ColorPrinter has already dissected the code about them and as it stands there is a 50/50 chance of an Angel or Devil room appearing and while some things are probably meant to change those odds, nothing does right now. In the code it's just a straight up 50/50 chance. Once you've taken a deal with the Devil, Angel rooms can never appear again, and I think possibly the same works in reverse, though I'm less certain about that.
There's a variable that tracks the number of Devil Rooms you've encountered, and Angel Rooms only supposed to appear if the value is > 0. Problem is, Florian never initialized the variable, it's set to "undefined". ActionScript thinks that "undefined" > 0 is true, so... the code doesn't work. You can encounter Angel Rooms before you encounter the Devil. I can also confirm this with anecdotal evidence but we have code, which is more reliable.
Note to myself: Stay the feck away from AS2 and never as Florian Himsl for a collabortaion. As for the testing part, there can always be other functions that mess up the variable if florian declared them as globals.
I got the mitre right at the start of my latest playthrough (I spawned and the treasure room was right beneath me) I have noticed that i get a lot of soul hearts so that is definitely true, but i haven't noticed any changes with the rooms. One other thing that I have noticed is that after vieweing the cutscene between levels, when you spawn in the room while Isaac is crying and shaking on the floor you can see the Mitre effect around unlike other items which don't appear until he gets up. LachlanR (talk) 08:48, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Get a screenshot of that and add it to the items page.
First of all, sign your messages, I makes comunication easier.
I deleted the page, because it has NOTHING to do with a Binding of Isaac WIKI. The page basically said: "Post whatever you want". This is not what a wiki is meant for and the page more or less became a huge spam magnet.
Hi, I'm new to Wikia and registered because I had a strange bug and wanted to share it. Since I cannot edit the Items page, and have been unable to find a discussion page about it, how can I warn other players ?
FYI and in case you'd want to edit this by yourself, this happened with the Best Friend usable item (the decoy Isaac that explodes) against Mom. Lauched it at the beginning of the fight (middle-left of the screen), got to the bottom right and started firing Ipecac shots. Then Mom's stomp on the Best Friend appears to have instakilled me !
a screenshot of the today I died screen, in which you can see :
- My position on the screen, and the absence of the death halo animation, making me thing this was indeed a bug (no death music either or whatever, the today I died screen appeared instantly)
- Mom's stomp, taking damage (either from the Ipecac shot or the best friend, dunno)
- The "instakill", taking away all of my hearts but not touching my Soul Heart. Note that they were full before my instadeath.
- The depleted Best Friend item
- And the Bomb pictogram of my killer, probably representing the Best Friend but could also be an Ipecac shot, I guess ?
Add it to that page. While Best Friend is know to cause all manners of bugs, the Bomo icon on isaacs death note seems new to me. Yeah, go and definetely add that bug!
I had a little talkpage talk with Lölle1988 on her edit to the ??? page, she doesn't seem to have much knowledge on the triva of Isaac, but it would appear as if it was an accident to the page. Has the wiki been under a few vandal attacks? I doubt she/he/it is one of them. Even a year of being blocked sounds hard. :c
A lot of item info boxes and some other things either say isaac or the player. For example: "allows Isaac to shoot triple shots" or "Allows the player to shoot triple shots". I personally believe that it should say "player" all the time, but I am more concerned over the inconcistency. I just wanted to make sure before I went and edited the item page
LachlanR (talk) 08:29, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
I thought about that too, but I'm inclided to say items affect Isaac, because I checked other wikis and most of them use the protagonist when it comes to special abilities.
As a sidenote: Isaac would even be correct if you play another character. ^^
Thanks for the quick reply, I completely forgot that all the characters are Isaac just dressed up. When I have the time I might edit the items page unless i would ahve to completely reword the info box. LachlanR (talk) 08:45, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Don't worry about rewording too much, any help is appreciated.
So far I have gone through the collectible items and activated items on the items page but I was quite tired and it is probably best if someone else also has a look over them. I'm probably going to have gone through the rest of the page in 2-3 days. LachlanR (talk) 10:42, August 8, 2012 (UTC)
I am unable to edit the trinkets and tarot cards section. I can edit the area above the table but I can't edit the actual table. LachlanR (talk) 21:07, August 8, 2012 (UTC)
That's because these are Templates. Don't worry about them, I'll do them later.
Thanks, but it would probably be a better if you made them editable for later use. LachlanR (talk) 08:27, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
Oh and for items with descriptions like "therefore, if you teleport to the devil room with..." should I leave it like that? I think I should as it is you causing it just wanted to check, but with things like "Teleports you to..." Should it be "Teleports Isaac to..." I just wanted to check. LachlanR (talk) 08:32, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
The most correct one would be, "Teleports Isaac to ...." but you (then player) in this case works too.
Why did you deleat every last fan idea, if you're going to pull a move like that, atleast make a notice to the user telling them there idea so that it isn't lost forever! What if Edmund came on the idea page and saw 0 ideas, he'd be out of good community stuff.
The community message board had message like "Fan ideas are gonna be deleted, make sure to make a back-up" for more than 2 weeks (deleted it yesterday/today to save some space). The Fan Ideas were an offer to you, the administration has the rights to edit or remove content anytime AND we have no obligation to notify you of this.
Also as a sign of good intentions all ideas were transfered over to the new wiki, main contributors to fan ideas were notified and all (at least I hope we didn't miss any) pictures were reuploaded again as well.
Oh, and honestly, don't take it as an insult, but I don't like *people* that only post here "BECAUSE EDMUND IS GONNA SEE MY IDEA!!!". Especially if one uses ms paint and texts that would be embarassing for even a 7 year old.
Go send Ed the link via formspring, if you are that worried.
Doomspeaker, I suck alot of dong for getting rid of the ideas page, it's what keeps the cock in my ass balance of games going, is ideas, without them, TF2 would be a dead game, The Binding of Isaac would be shit, and all the other games would be shit too, so if your going to delete ideas, that means you are going to get so much hate onto you, so don't delete stuff like that, it messes both you and millions of others up. 67.182.240.157 02:42, August 13, 2012 (UTC)thespartzter
my laughs aside(trollface) theres a fan ideas wiki dumb dumb if you like the fan ideas, leave we wont miss you we tend not to like people like you at all. your probobly just some dumb 10 year old kid trying to troll people rule 1 of trolling DONT GET CAUGHT the second you get caught you lose

Wait, is he trying to threaten me?
Anyway, this is a good example why parents should turn their PC off after using it. Good thing is that you signed your post, so I can free the wiki of you faster.
Ive just realized that ive played the game 150+ times but I still havent beaten mom D=. The closest that i got to beating the game was when I was magdalene, I had brimstone and lord of the pit, I had completely maxed out skills and I had the dollar bill. I was in the arcade trying to get another iv bag, switching between the slot machine and blood donation machine when i accidentally bumped into the blood donation machine twice and died. I jsut stared at the screen for 30 secs and then started crying D=. Am i really unlucky with the drops or do i just suck??? LachlanR (talk) 21:03, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
Sign you post. Actually, I think you suck, because after 150 there have to be item combinations that enable mom kill. You be the game by that or by getting used to it. So either I have to assume it's not your game (happens and that's no shame) or you lack crucial infos (in which case you are at the right place now).
If everything fails, use Cain (if you have already unlocked him that is) and it should work eventually, since he is pretty much the EASY MODE for BoI.
Soz i forgot to sign the post, I noticed that all of my friends that have it have beaten the game by using the bible, but I have never seen that before, and after the failed attempt I bought WoTL which I think was a bad idea since now I keep getting killed by widow at the start. Its also quite strange as I am usually really good at "twin stick shooters" such as Geometry wars and I am much better than my friends which have already beaten this game. LachlanR (talk) 21:03, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
It could be because I have a really bad wireless keyboard and if you have more than 2 buttons pressed down it doesn't do anything. LachlanR (talk) 21:15, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
One keystroke at a time certainly does not help at all. Don't be discouraged by your friends, the bible is just a cheap trick (wait until they try to use it on a boss after the heart ^^) and it certainly does not show any kind of skill. So yeah, fixing the key board would be a good idea.
Forcefully trying to convert the wiki will count as trolling, we had many cases of this in the past (it'S german btw, because russian would use a different set of letters)
Please revert your changes to the items page immediately. The whole point of having an comprehensive items page in the first place is to be able to quickly Ctrl+F an item to find out its effects while playing the game without having to waste time browsing around various pages. That's ruined now. There's no point in "freeing space up", apart from driving people to use other websites instead.
1 SIGN THE DAMNED POSTS!!!!111one!11!
2 hes an admin he does what he wants
3 whats wrong with the new item page? the fact that it doesnt take 3 minutes to load?
Doom told me something about being passive-aggressive, so hear goes, currently, the item page is going to go under some serious revisions tommorow, and due to your lack of effort to not only try to personally take the time to not sign your post and address your meaningless concern to an admin, who spends his time trying to make your Isaac play experience better, All of that time you could of spent trying to find what your looking for instead, and actually being useful, instead of being useless to the community.
I use that page quite a lot when I'm playing BOI, in case I find a card I can't remember the use of or a new item. Your change kind of encumbers me. It was easy just to ctrl+f an item, but now unless it's a pickup treasure I have to go to the category page. I noticed your edit reason was "to free up space" but what space is it freeing up? What else could be put on the page? I'd reverse it but you seem kind of high up on the wiki and I feel it'd start an edit war.
EDIT: Yeah, my signature's weird, I know. I frequent the Harry Potter Wiki, so that's why it's like that.
Did you take the time to read the other topic another user posted just posted before you?
In case you didn't I'll sum it up quickly: Huge page does take a while to load, editing and maintaining is therefore harder as well and this stuff doesn't even belong to the items page.
The page is the longest of the whole wiki and a total mess.
Starting an edit war on a wiki you only visit for information (and don't contribute to much) against an Admin is indeed not the brightest idea.
If you don't like it, go to a wiki where every user is free to do to the wiki what they want. Oh, wait all these wikis are abandoned mess...
Sorry for being harsh, but I don't like people who only demand and give nothing back in return.
Hi, I saw you banned an annon for a year. It looked like that was his only "edit" here, and I think it's a little rash that he was banned for so long. A week at most would be more than enough for a first offending troll. Just my opinion on it. 20px"You sir, are Pigeon Approved!" 22:29, August 19, 2012 (UTC)
Don't care if rash or not, if you come here and your first edit is trolling, you don't deserve a second chance.
I've noticed in the last few days on Edmund's formspring, this new 'console' edition will include a coop, and one of the 20¢ shop features that was never implemented, might want to check that out. I can imagine another large page discussion like before WoTL. oh god, It's like Edmund is acutally looking at fan ideas. :L
That's known for a long time, but I still find it amazing how people are actually that dumb to think they are the only ones to come up with useable ideas and that Ed has got to have them from fan ideas. Seriously, multiplayer is a good idea for almost everything these days, especially for non-sequenced games.
Collect all data you can find on it and make a page for it if you have enough. ^^
Probably should put this somewhere more visible, but since you seem to be in charge around here, thought you should also know first. Anyways, got a first draft of the item template done.
The technical is that is it made up of 8 divs currently - one to hold the others which is invisible, and each of the seven being invoked by an Template:Item Begin and Template:Item End block. The end user doesn't need to worry about this!
Instead, they just enter stuff like below and it would generate the box on the right. The only missing thing would be to have the pages categorized automatically, but I can try doing that in a few days as well.

Edit: Also, to elaborate, this code should go at the very top of every item page, below the TOC definition, if any. This ensures it will float to the right correctly.
I was also thinking about having the two Collections pages merged. I left a comment on that page, but wasn't sure if you'd see it or not. The links for them will all have to be redirected to the appropriate item page.
That's the prototype I came up with after cannibalizing an existing (figured it making a template would help me find out what it needs). So beware of messy code! ^^
Honestly, yours looks a lot simpler and cleaner, so we might end using that one. But there should be some alterations:
1. "Appearence" as Title below the collectible's icon
2. A space for the picture of how isaac looks after picking it up
(2.5 "Text shown on pickup". (Sadly lots of this data wwas somehow lost during the last months))
3. Not sure if we need the effect descibed again (that's what the page is for after all)
Oh also I had a build in check to see if it's an activated or passive ,only shows the rooms to recharge when needed and you can enter data from the template mask (although the type of collectible needs to be spelled out right obviously for it to work.).
I really want to use your version though! So if you agree on these alterations we're pretty much set. The manual pasting of the code should not be a problem at all. The only question is, can I leave out entries without messing up the template? Like recharge rate etc.
I really appreciate your efforts for this humble wiki and I hope we can count on you for the item page disassembly.
Also I'd like to answer you question about the Collection pages:
The original purpose was just to show a better looking collection grid on the wiki. Since pre and post WotL Collection grids looks different, two pages were made for no good reason. While maintaining the items page I got inspired by an users idea for an item based search so I used the collection pages to do that. The anchors can easily replaced by page links.
Consider the merge done.
PS: I pretty much read everything submitted to the wiki. ^^
I'd love to contribute more if I could, but as it stands, I'm not in a place where I have a freely available, stable internet connection, so it's touch and go. However, the template looks great. I don't care what the end result looks like, but as long as it organizes the information in a tidy manner, great. The pickup text could probably go on the template with the full description in the page itself.
As far as I know, you can leave the fields blank without messing anything up, it will just display a blank.
Evilcreeper789 has been trolling the site. I just finished fixing all the crap he did, including changing names of characters, editing the boss names, adding random pictures in random places, etc. etc.... and I think he needs to go >:( Took like an hour to find out all the info (I have beaten Satan once...so im not far in the game(I had to look stuff up(I couldn't look it up on the wiki because it was edited by him))). I think he should be banned :O...
I am happy to fix it though, and if I ever see a troller again, I will fix everything they do :)
Sorry!!! I didn't know there was an undo button!!! Thanks though, and nice job banning him :). And im glad to help you, a lot of people use this wiki (including me) and retards like him ruin it...
EDIT: I just found it, now that u telll me its there it made me wanna find it and i just did, thanks for the info and taking care of trollers will be so much easier now.
I had a chat with Krysto2010 on Steam, he says he left you in charge of the wiki and you and make the head descions. Also he's going off to college and might not have much time for the wiki, he also said that when he's online Steam, he only leaves his computer running so he doesn't have to always restart it, password etc,. etc,.
That's one mark off the list, operation S.A.M.O.N is almost a go.
I just held off these 2 asses that were changing a lot of pages, since I'm an idiot, I don't know how to undo it all, but I'm undoing what I can, the vandals have been blocked, so were good for now, get back to me ASAP.
I left a post on the bug section of the wiki at the very bottom of the items portion. *portable slot machine glitch
I also left a screenshot image of the bug itself. There is a video that obscures the screenshot and was wondering if you could move stuff around to make the screenshot visible.
It wasn't because of any edits you made. Another user forcefully changed the page layout back to include non-collectible items, a thing which we clearly decided to put on single pages. So I restored the page back to it state before their edit.
Sadly you made you contribution after their edit so your entry was affected by the undo as well.
How to pretent that? Well, in this case you could not have know, otherwise I would suggest undoing page vandalism etc before making your edits.
Was offline for a while. So, about parameters, just use default value feature with empty default value. I.e. {} (note the pipe) instead of {}.
To vote off an Admin, you have to talk to Wiki Central. Usually you have to have goods reasons for such an action, but you could try to convince somebody over there that that Wiki needs an active Admin.
Hello! Is there any chance at getting my hands on the flash file with all of the sprites for recreational purposes? Thanks! TokiyamoriTV (talk) 18:42, September 27, 2012 (UTC)
I assume you know how to extract files from a flash file (.swf extension). I forgot how the programm was called to extract the swf from the game (swf grbber or something.). Unfortunately I can't send the swf file, since connection here is to slow for that to work. Meanwhile you can use the stuff we have here, it covers large areas of ingame graphics.
I found somewhere here on the wiki a link to the archive on GoogleDocs with all ingame Graphics but can't find it right now. But I looked over my download history and found the link. The Archive has about 7579 files (~107 MB) and is roughly seperated in five groups:
Isn't that thing missing stuff that was patched in later?
Anyway, is someone up for the daunting task of assembling every sprite for isaac's different looks he gets from collectibles? I'd to do that myself, but well, RL.
How Isaac looks like after picking up certain items.
Most of them need to be assembeld together given the modular nature of the games graphics. I can't demand that somebody does all the sprites, but some help until I get a better connecting and more time again would be appreciated.
I have already some spirits assembled (Mom's Underwear, Rosary, Black Bean, Bucket of Lard, <3, Wire Coat Hanger, Mom's Lipstick, Meat!, Magdalene). Where do I put them?
Another Question: Please protect the page Template: Tarot Card List. An annonymus user keeps editing the Death card with nonsense (He says it kills you instantly) since the last 2 days (Already 3-4 times).
Death Card-Guy tried to delete part of you message. Didn't work, he's banned and now nobody can fiddle with the tarot cards template anymore.
Best thing to do with is to update the old pictures depicting the upgrades. We should have one for all of them on the items page. Or if you feel particularly worky-happy you can update the picture, make a single item page and add it under the parameter appearance. Eitherway I'm happy with both. Also I'd like to add that we alread have sprites for the playable characters and some items have a special backside (like Speed Ball).
My apologies if I'm being annoying, but the Googles Document file with all of the ripped sprites is inaccessable even when logged in. Is there any way you could share them on a website like dropbox so people may acess them? I need them for a big project I'm working on with somebody.
I am working with a user, Lampenpam, on a Binding of Isaac map for Team Fortress 2's Super Zombie Fortress fan gamemode. An example of the map may be seen here. I am making the 3D models for the map, such as Satan and Isaac along with the particle systems used in the map. I need good references to get the models as accurate as I can, and the raw sprites to make the particles as they are in the game. If you are also aware of how to crop the sounds as well, that would be even more wonderful for the map.
Contains every sprite before the chest update. Some might be missing, but those should be on the wiki (otherwise just ask). Also just to mention, you have to assemble many of them.
As for sounds, I extracted every sound there is as mp3:
Heh, well I wouldn't call myself fabled, and I'm always happy to meet somebody who enjoys my work! It really helps with motivation to see people happy from the results.
Thank you so much for those! They will really help out a lot, and if you don't mind, I'm gonna forward these to Lampenpam since he can probably put them to good use for decals, new textures, and sound effects. And the lack of the chest sprites and polaroids shouldn't be an issue.
Thank you again for the words of optimism, and yeah, Blender is a wonderful program to use for modeling. It's not worth buying or cheating to get 3DsMax or Maya since Blender can do what they do too for Source.

Just to ask, what's the plan on Op. Samon and the future of the wiki, I'll probably work on WoTL activated items now, but are we going to turn the wiki into a Edmund wiki on his all of his games? I'm up for it
A two-headed cat. Suspicious cools siluettes in the background. And such "edmundish" name.
Sounds good.
As for an Edmund wiki, I don't like the idea of turning a wiki into something different at all. Note: we cannot even rename the wiki.
I quick sweep through wiki shows the following:
SMB wiki: Exists - Status:orphaned and ravaged beyond hope
BOI wiki: Exists - Kinda like a zombie; seems dead but is somehow moving
Spewer & Time Fcuk etc: Independant Games wiki hosts ONE page for each of them
So we should have no problem with creating a "Team Meat and friends"-wiki (that is a working title of course).
But first think about this:
You would have to start a whole new wiki and then merge together all the stray wikis containing edmund's games.
You would have to build a wiki with quite every standard. Note: this wiki isn't exactly up to date when it come to user friendlynes and navigation etc. Better don't even start to talk about design etc.
You would need A LOT MORE PEOPLE WILLING TO HELP. I am not talking about "I could sometimes check the wiki" but "I will check the wiki every couple of hours daily". Are you willing to comit more time to this new wiki instead of playing TF2?
If you are able to tackle all the points, I'd be gald to part of such wiki.
It may be a possiblity in the future in my wikia carrer, but for now of course, the Isaac wiki has all of my attention. The SMB is kinda what I was talking about when a wiki should be made for those 'ravaged' Edmund games. Heck, even Time Fcuk should have a page in desciption to it's plot, gameplay, and meaning. I like the idea of a Team Meat wiki title, kinda giving more background on the creator's and their history, (aka copy word for word what Edmund says in Indie Game: The Movie).
how did you make to appear these drawings on the "my favourite items" page? is there an easy way to create one like that? :3
thankyou very much ^^ <3
If you mean the animation with ??? holding up different items, I assembeled a picture for each item and them put it together. I'd like to make you one but I don't have time for that, but I'm sure google will spit out a website that let's you do that as well.
Thanks it took some time to edit them. Chat doesn't seem to work or I just never see no one there anymore. I haven't been adding my items to the items page since someone took some of them off. So can I add them now... nothing isn't going to get screwed?
This wiki is able to incoperate javascript as far as I know. I played around with it for some time.
So basically you read out the icons and the each corresponding table entry. Seems great for wiki editors.
So, I'd still liketo have some requests.
Ability to open/$close the Window. Some kind of toggle Button would be lovely. (If it is implemented as a non layover window, this wiki's show/hide could do the trick as well)
While I can understand that it is too much work to arrange the item icons perfectly, but it would be nice if all of them had at least a similar size.
Trinkets and Tarrots did not work. The script seemed to do nothing (I'm using Greasemonkey).
There should be some smal notice, that clicking on the item locks it in for display. (I figured that out after a few minutes or so).
Activated items need a collumn for "Rooms to recharge". Please note that this is optional, as I can imagine that adding this wcould cuase some trouble.
Anyway that thing looks ungodly usefull, and players are gonna love it.
Doomspeaker, in my personal opinion, the table of bosses should list Conquest under Womb/Utero as they are the only floors he appears in, unlike The Fallen or Headless Horseman.
Excellent suggestion!
Conquest being listed together with The Fallen and Headless Horseman is a relic of times when WotL was still kinda buggy. I went ahead and changed that.
Actually it is "The Son of Dr. Tongue" (Bonus points if you can guess the game, ok let's replace guess with google), which itself is also a homage to the famous movie "The Fly" (I recommend you watching that film").
I use this wiki a lot, especially to remember the effect of items I find. So I wanted to bring in my 2 cents. Nevertheless, I will have to edit the item page again, 'cause even if the GameKid turns the heart machine blue as it does with ennemies, it does *NOT* detroy it, dropping a blood bag. I was just damn lucky. It only allows to farm it normally. :) Bln (talk) 08:33, November 20, 2012 (UTC)
You can use invincibility granting items (My Little Unicorn, The Gamekid and Book of Shadows) to donate free hearts to the Blood Bank or the Devil Beggar. And yes, no insta opening a blood bank witht he gamekid.
Doomspeaker, since you are basically the head honcho and call the shots, can you please delete the page 'Juden' as it is just a troll page with no purpose or benefit.

You know very well that it isn't TF2 that has me wholly consumed, but that's besides the point. Yes, I intend to make a return around winter time in full, even more so when mewgenics comes around, because that sounds adorably fun.
All this aside, yes, I'm returning, and a status report would be nice. I noticed the forums are utterly destroyed so I removed the link to them lest something manage to crawl back out. If you have any extreme need of me, send me a massage via steam, I may not get back right away, but if I catch it after class any given day I'll usually get to it.
Is there any possibility of making a page about stats so we can actually figure out what phrases like "Increases Damage by 2" and having three bars on the tears stat means? Just wondering.
The characters page has an own section called stats. There is no reliable way to tell how much damage you are exactly doing by looking at the stats ingame. Only whole values are shown in the form of bars (3.8 or 3.1 damage is shown as 3).As for damage, the rules how much damage you actually do are explained as well.
All right...and by the way I am sorry for that image I accidentally uploaded. I didn't realize it would show up on the whole wiki. Is there any way to get rid of it?
if i were to make some edits (like say, adding "My Innermost Apocalypse" link to the isaac/??? pages and adding death will pictures from Gemini and whatnot.) would that be ok?
I didn't create the page, I merely was just improving it's formatting. You could of renamed the page instead of deleting it.LaDestitute (talk) 18:17, January 6, 2013 (UTC)
That wasn't directed at you, but the page creator. It is beyond my imagination how renaming a duplicate page makes it better.
Hey Doomspeaker, it's been a while. Looks like you've uploaded pretty much every image in high resolution now, that's amazing! :D
I looked up all kinds of decks a couple of weeks ago, and started adding some of the relevant knowledge to the trivia section of the Tarot Card page. It might use wikipedia links a bit too extensively (i didn't link to other pages), but those who are interested will probably find them helpful. Among other stuff i also conclude that the cards featured in Wrath of the Lamb can't really be considered "Tarot Cards".
Now we get to the part that will probably concern you more: They were refered to as "Deck Cards" occationally on this wiki, or as "Minor Arcana" (in the template that lists all the cards). I assume this was merely a term thought up to set them aside from the 22 regular cards. But tarot cards are also "deck cards" (since they're part of a tarot deck; additionally that deck wouldn't use French suits for it's Minor Arcana, so that term wouldn't quite cover those five cards from Wrath of the Lamb either. "Suit Cards" seems like the most fitting term, since they're part of a 52 card deck with Jokers, and the Major Arcana does not have any suits (unless you consider the trumps a fifth suit). (In fact, "French Cards" might have been the most fitting term, but that doesn't quite sound right for this game). "Deck Cards" wasn't used that much in the wiki (turns out, only the trinkets template used the term), so i replaced all instances of that term (including the page) with "Suit Cards".
However, currently when the wiki refers to all of the 27 cards (let me call them "tarot cards" and "suit cards" for now), it usually still speaks of "Tarot Cards". The more general term "Card(s)" seems like an obvious choice that covers all of them.
That in mind, i basically rewrote the entire page "Tarot Cards". However, came across two problems:
Since the template that lists the cards is protected, i created two new seperate templates that fit the new page.
I considered it to be an advantage to a) have two seperate pages that either list the tarot cards or the suit cards, in case only one type of them is needed for reference and b) omit any headers or further information, so the template really only boils down to a table that contains all cards.
As i mentioned before, a lot of articles currently still refer to this item type as "Tarot Cards", yet i rewrote the article so it refers to this item type simply as "cards". I could just have moved the page and have all of the other pages keep the old name, since this would still redirect them to an article called "Cards", but i wanted to take a look at the major part of these pages and replace the term "Tarot Card" for "Card" if necessary: There are cases where "Tarot Cards" means in fact only tarot cards, e.g. if suit cards cannot be acquired that way, e.g. by using the Deck of Cards.
Yet another thing: I also noticed FawfultheGreat started making seperate articles for spacebar items, which seems pretty neat. This might goes one step further, but i thought the same thing could possibly be done with the cards. The advantage is that each tip that's currently listed in the, well, card list, could not only be featured on that page, but each seperate page about a particular card could get a more detailed list of tips for the card in various situations.
Navigation bars would go nice with these seperate articles as well, but this shouldn't be too big of a deal to be done.
Once again, this turned out to be quite a wall of text, but despite my commentary on my recent edits. But because of the comparably major change i did with them, i wanted to clarify my intentions behind them, and wanted to let somebody know that i'm not entirely done yet. --Lynel (talk) 23:06, January 10, 2013 (UTC)
There're still many pictures waiting to be uploaded!
Ok Tarot Cards:
The Tarot deck used is most likely the Tarot of Marseilles. (My bet is that it wasn't choosen intentionally, but instead because pop culture tends to bring up that particular one.)
It consists of the Major Arcana (also called Trump) and the Minor Arcana (Suit). You are correct, the name Deck Cards is wrong. The Joker overlaps with the Fool in most cases or does simply not exist. However, they are all Tarot cards (that's the name that particular type of pick-up has as well).
I'd advise against splitting them up.
If you want seperate pages for the Tarot just make some! Only thing that's important is, that you should keep the main list intact. People should not have to open thousand tabs only to find out the basic effect of a group of items.
The reason why we held back creating single pages was because the sheer amount of pages that would have to be kept in check.
Yeah, the Tarot of Marseilles is one likely candidate. Still, i considered the Rider-Waite Tarot about as likely since (as mentioned in the trivia section) only that one lists the fool as zero, and the names Edmund used are identical to those from the Rider tarot. However, the images seem to be based on the Tarot de Marseille, so both are somehow relevant.
The reason i don't like the term "Minor Arcana" for the suit card is because this term is specifically used for divinatory tarot, yet those cards (that also use a more Arcade-esque back ) are only meant for playing.
"However, they are all Tarot cards (that's the name that particular type of pick-up has as well)."
Do you mean that's how all cards are refered to in the source code of the game? If this is the case, it might simply be because there were originally only tarot cards in isaac, and Florian didn't want to replace all instances of the old name for the established item type. --Lynel (talk) 17:29, January 11, 2013 (UTC)
Rider-Waite, good spotting! Since this one is famous for beeing artistcally reimagined (i.e. new designs for illustrations) we can pretty much nail it down.
Wait, the Minor Arcana is used for divination as well ! The back is also different for players to distiguish between Major and Minor Arcana cards before picking them up.
The Minor Tarot cards are refered to as such by players (and more important for this matter, Edmund). Pickups of the category Tarot Cards split into subcategories Major and Minor Arcana.
It's nice to see showing so much commitment to details.
Wait, Edmund actually once referred to them as "Minor Arcana"? Well, if Word of God says so, they're the Minor Arcana then. (No matter if having "The Joker" in there actually makes sense or not - i just have to take it as part of the Binding of Isaac Tarot Deck then :D)
(I also know the Minor Arcana is used for divination as well, it's just that those cards use a) French suits and b) feature the Joker c) a different back, yet a) neither the Rider-Waite nor Tarot of Marseilles use French suits, but the old italian ones (cups, wands, staves, pentacles/coins), b) the Joker is not part of the Minor Arcana and c) another card back would have suggested that it's from another deck, since Major and Minor arcana usually use the same back.
Well, i guess Edmund simply the back different just for the sake of telling those two card types apart from each other (which makes perfect sense gameplay-wise).
When you mentioned Tarot de Marseille before, I edited the trivia section of the Tarot Cards article to mention that the Major Arcana in TBoI is likely inspired by it, since the images seemed closer to them than those from Rider-Waite, but if you think the aspect of reimagination that's so prominent there might be a reason that the cards in TBoI are entirely based on Rider-Waite after all, this article section might need another revision.
As usual, simply asking Edmund what kind of deck he had in mind seems like the easiest solution here :P --Lynel (talk) 22:11, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
Ed didn't call 'em Minor Arcana, he simply called the Suit Cards Tarot cards as well.
The Rider-Waite Tarot used as base with inspiration for the Marseilles Deck (occultists still mix together their favourite systems to create their own after all ;P), how about that?
Really seems like an ask Edmund thing. Sadly he never seems to answer questions that are straight to the point for some time now. :/
PS: Be carefull with TV-Trophes, weaker users coul loose some hours to that.
While we're at it, when this "item type" ((tarot) cards) gets combined with pills, we get all single-use items that go into the Q-slot. there doesn't seem to be an official name for them, but this supertype might be worth an article as well.
An overall item type hierarchy tree for the item page could clear things up as well. "Major" items (that go on Isaac's list when pressing pause) are sometimes in this wiki refered to as simply "items", while pick-up items are simply refered to as "pick-ups". Other times, the term "item" includes pick-ups as well, which is no surprise since this seperation is rather confusing. Maybe we should come up with a term like "Pedestal Item" that unambiguously describes such items? --Lynel (talk) 17:34, January 11, 2013 (UTC)
The proposed terms were: Collectibles for strict upgrades. Those are again separated into Passives and Activated Collectibles.
Pick-Ups encompass any other items. Pills and Tarot cards are put into the subcategory Q-slot (i'd love to call it Quickslot, but that's too much of a stretch). Trinkets are obviously put into a subcategory with the same name as well.
Not the naming is problematic, but the many people who sadly often don't give a shat about any kind of convention. :/ (After Northernlion used the term spirit hearts, it took a long time to get rid of the terminology again for example)
Quickslot is indeed a bit of a stretch, but actually seems like a nice term. But as a name for the item slot (in analogy to the "Spacebar slot") and not the item type itself, because pills or cards aren't quite a "quickslot". It could find use for a diagram that shows the layout of the entire game screen with names for each part.
Naming conventions - particularly for unofficial terms - are indeed often problematic, because then each player tends to come up with his own name, and/or because a particular name a famous person uses gets more common - despite not being the official or most fitting name. (For example, as you said, Northernlion and his "Spirit Heart" or "Grandfather Fly". I mean that term is funny, but it's more of a diminutive/slang/joke, and within articles shouldn't be used to refer to that fly - but i don't need to tell you that :P)
On which talk page have these terms (or the term for "major collectibles") been discussed? I think one main problem is that we haven't quite come up with one distinct naming for them all, and likewise the articles are currently inconsistent.
The wiki actually has quite some impact on the player community, so if we come up with good names, easily explain them on the items page, and consistently use them throughout the articles, chances are players will adopt those terms.
Of course there are always those that don't care, but those are usually not the kind of people who edit pages anyways. (Although admittedly, the Binding of Isaac wiki seems to be somewhat of an exception). --Lynel (talk) 22:35, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
The disscussion should be here on my talk page. The question arose while creating an single item template.
Players already adopted some of those name (Evil Twin seems to be the most popular one for example).
I already thought about promoting the wiki, but I'm not that sure if that would be a good or bad thing. At least we dominate every search engine when it comes to any term describing the binding of isaac.
Hmm, the post in his blogspot is already pretty old, but i just noticed he mentions a "Mystery Room1" and "Mystery Room2". Any idea what he meant with these?
I also didn't want to imply something like "we need to get this wiki more known!"^^ It's just that i meant to imply that the wiki has an influence of those who occationally use it for reference, and these people are quite a lot since - as you said - it's where you end up when you google in-game content about this game. So if we choose good names, we won't have to worry about (or at least less) about contributors who mix up the various types, or use some terms interchangeably. --Lynel (talk) 00:34, January 13, 2013 (UTC)
The mystery rooms refere to rooms no show by Ed by this time (Secret Room for example).
No no, I just threw in the "advise the wiki thing".
If the wiki had enforced more strict rules from the biginning we would not have the name problem. Well, we can only make the best of now. What names would you suggest?
You don't seem to like the idea behind Category:Research needed. This was kind of a unannounced addition i admit. But why did you remove it from most articles? --Lynel (talk) 00:34, January 13, 2013 (UTC)
I did the research and thus eliminated the need for them to stay any longer in that (excellent) category
I later noticed that too when i checked the content of all your edits :P
At first i just checked the edit in "rock", where you just happened to remove those lines (apparently since you know the list is complete the way it is?), therefore i thought you wanted to undo the whole thing. Glad you like it. --Lynel (talk) 16:51, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
Greetings, hoping to help with spelling and other grammar problems (if present) on the wiki. Excited for BoI:Rebirth and am hoping to help with items and such when and or if it finally arrives. Cheers. LorknTalk 19:42, January 11, 2013 (UTC)
Hi there.
Nice to see another one eager to help. We'll get the wiki ready, don't worry! ^^
Everything is Terrible is mentioned on the Achievements page list, and it tells you how to obtain it. There's no other information and no link. The Unlockables and Secrets pages are the same, with the addition that they actually tell you it is a difficulty increase. I think a list of the confirmable effects on the game would be valuable. Does this exist somewhere and I am looking at the wrong pages?
In my view this is related to a larger issue. In the interminable splitter/lumper conflict this wiki's culture seems to be Fundamentalist Orthodox Lumper, which is fine in principle if not to my taste. But there are real drawbacks to over-pruning. Namely that this wiki is has very poor searchability. If you vaguely know a name, you need to do a Find on at least Items, Familiar, Trinkets and Tarot Cards or possibly more! Every item may or may not need its own page but they should all absolutely have their own names as redirects so they can be searched! So Everything is Terrible definitely needs to exists, if only as a redirect to whatever page has the actual information. --Raisins (talk) 22:55, January 11, 2013 (UTC)
First of all thanks for that link, very interesting subject!
Splitting might be a nice idea IF you can ensure consistency. Simply creating a page and writing down 3 lines won't do it. Now what about the other archievements? Do they need pages as well now? Or do only some?
(Well, I admit that Everything is Terrible isn't explained anywhere on the main pages, however. I'll add it later)
Creating a redirect for everything will only cause more chaos.
People start linking to redirects instead of the direct page. Or redirect to redirects. That happened before and only caused more confusion.
(btw: Ctrl+F is your friend when it comes to searching items.)
Personal oppinion: If you don't know that Everything is Terrible can be found under achievements, ehm, you might as well pick up COD. Same goes for items. Only people not willing to do a quick overread of the article cannot find the matching pages. Good luck finding a wiki that has every item indexed under various search terms.
PS: The search function of wikia isn't any good, especially if you only have a vague idea of what to search.
TLDNR; Working on it. Meanwhile keep in mind that only demanding won't make people happy.
By Find I was referring to Ctrl+F (well, "/" in firefox), the issue is that it's not any one page, you have to search on several. That it can be hard to find an item when you know the correct exact name is silly and preventable. It's standard wiki tidying to change links past redirects to the targets, that's not a big deal. You change them when you find them, just like internal wikilinks to disambiguation pages. There are Special:SpecialPages to help with that sort of cobweb dusting if one cares to. In any case, I was not advocating a comprehensive effort to redirect all and sundry. I was just arguing you should redirect rather than delete in cases like my Everything is Terrible stub (Though I remain unsure that doesn't deserve an article). --Raisins (talk) 00:39, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
I'd completely agree with Raisins here. Redirects aren't a bad thing at all, and even there happen to arise a couple of redirects every now and then because a page got moved, as he (she?) said, this can easily be solved by checking via Special:SpecialPages. Also, the worst case you are afraid of that could happen when redirects are used is pretty much equal to not having redirects in the first place, Doomspeaker :D
Saying "just press Ctrl+F" doesn't cut it in my opinion, that's merely possible due to the fact that we tend to have one huge page for each major game element that lists every single subject of it, which isn't the traditional way of a wiki to document stuff. Of course it's still helpful. But right now with the current system, when a player types in a term in the search that doesn't have an article, he'll often end up finding nothing, and in some cases even gets search results that aren't remotely related (thanks to an apparently poor search algorithm, but that's not our problem today :P)
Also as Raisins said, having (redirect) pages for alternate, yet possibly somewhat common terms are incredibly helpful for people that don't know the official term, or at least the term that this wiki uses. (As we discussed some section above), this could be players searching for "Spirit Heart" instead of "Soul Heart", or maybe even "Grandfather Fly". For example if Spirit Heart redirects to "Hearts" or even "Hearts#Soul Hearts", this will clear things up immediately.
As for Everything is Terrible: i'd also say it's one of those major secrets that might deserve a page on its own. It changes so much in the game that the exact changes (room layouts, enemy spawns) could fill quite a page. --Lynel (talk) 16:49, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
Everything is terrible only gives you the chance to spawn alternative colored enemies. That's about it.
The item page clump was already there when I came here, and some users still curse me for trying to install separate pages. It does not help however if people start making redirects for everything. It was already noticeable when normal users tried to create item pages and the names were already taken.
Making a page for things such as archievements doe not help either (especially if you can describe it's effect with a few words).
Soul hearts are called soul hearts, end of story.
No wiki will give you the service of including nicknames of items in its search options.
If you find a pick up you can't name, go to a page featuring pick ups. There are pictures for everything. We even have a picture based search for items.
Navigation here is terrible, but that is a problem that is being worked on already.
So no, not gonna support the creation of stubs that have no chance of growing. Also no half-baked things. They are the reason why parts of this wiki are still so chaotic.
I agree that just having lots of stubs isn't something desireable, but my main concern (and i think Rainsins' as well) were the redirect pages, and those are done fast.
"It was already noticeable when normal users tried to create item pages and the names were already taken."
What did you mean with that? I remember people creating several item pages, but has there ever been a case where the page name has already been taken? Either way, if two items share the same name they're usually split apart with a disambiguation identifier in brackets, because that happens often and is a common part in wikis.
About that bold soul hearts line, and alternate terms in general: I think you got me wrong. I do not support using those terms within articles or maybe even as the title. But again, it's a common thing for wikis to write common (albeit unofficial) terms down to inform readers about them, and occationally create redirect or disambiguation pages to the page with the official term.
Wikis exist for documentation after all. While they're meant to do this with structure and the best terminology possible, they're not meant to create some kind of eletist, proper term dictionary that seeks the elimination of any thoughts about alternate terms from the fanbase, and just pretend they don't exist ;) --Lynel (talk) 22:01, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
(If you want to link to pages with multiple entried, use anchors. btw)
At the danger of sounding weird/elitist: Go on and let users create any pages they want regardless of importance, use any names they prefere and let them bog down the wiki with half-assed articles!
Maybe it is because this wiki always had such lax guidelinies. Other wikis ban people just for not using categories for example!
As previously said, you can look up pictures if you forgot the name. The only place for fan names would be trivia and even that should be handeled with care. Wikia is a daterbase after all and not some site to circulate your nicknames (unless you want to have something like the fan idea fiasco back here). All these mindless entries made the search engine so crappy after all. I'd like to remind you that if you don't know what you are looking for, even the best serach engine can't help you.
Yeah I have to admit that this kind of pisses me off.
Sadly the most amusing fact I noticed is that most people rather spend their time with complaining rather than even read a small paragraph. It's not about an constructive critique and improvement of the wiki, but instead of "how they are too lazy to open more tabs/their pages getting deleted".
Why not focus on getting the wiki stable?
Once that's done we can talk about implementing a better search system, provided you can come up with a coherent plan.
"Go on and let users create any pages they want regardless of importance" Well i never said that, obviously i don't want this either (the most recognizable example would be stuff like "Pimp My Isaac" or fan-content that if i remember correctly escalated as well and ended up in some users creating articles about made-up items in the regular namespace). But there is a difference between somewhat common terms that are recognized by most people and just some random inside terms a single player made up for himself. It's that case i was talking about that will make sure that wiki users that are familiar with the alternate terms don't get unnecessary difficulties. If people search for "Spirit Hearts", they should just get directed to the section entitled "Soul Hearts", and they'll notice themselves how they're actually called. No reason to get cocky and make them find nothing instead. If you hate it so much, i'd say there's at least enough space in the trivia section, so the search engine should give them the Heart article as first result, since it includes this term.
About the better search system: I have no idea which algorithms it takes to make a good one, but shouldn't there be pre-built ones that wikia provides? I don't know if every wiki from Wikia uses the same software or different version, because if the same versions are used globally, there's nothing we could do about it anyways. I'm not even a great fan of Wikia, to be honest. --Lynel (talk) 17:25, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
But what exactly is an establish fan name? Wouldn't blue heart also count? Who gets to decide what to put in and what not? That's a very subjective thing to do (unless you can come up with some kind of criteria that is). Also we start abandoning one of a wiki's greates principle there: Objectivity.
The only nick names that are agreed upon are D6, Fetus i a jar, and soul hearts.
Sorry for not writing it down properly: By search system I mean anything that would help people get around here (may be interchangeable with navigation for some).
I don't like wikia either (it's still better than to pay for private hosting).
You're completely right in that a wiki should stay objective.
Actually i'd say the wiki is more objective if you allow that couple of somewhat common alternate terms. In some cases they're even just as unofficial as the terms used on the wiki, with the difference that the one used on the wiki got decided over for one reason or another.
You even listed one major example where people who don't know the wiki term could easily find the page by searching for the word along with its color - "blue heart", "white heart", "white fly", "red poop", etc.
Similarly, there could be "huge troll bomb", "big troll bomb", "mega troll bomb". There are plenty of terms like that which would simply improve the wiki rather than harming it.
We still keep the same article that uses exactly those terms that we agreed on, with the only difference that some redirects lead here as well. I didn't say we should encourage users to make use of those slang terms on the actual pages. THere could be a simple policy that prohibits that. Speaking of which, there aren't any policy pages on this wiki to begin with as of now.
Also take a look at this. The project also suggests creating slang terms of cities.
There are so many things on the wiki that i think are worse than that (which i don't consider bad to begin with). Like the Combos page for example, it's really messy and inconsistently structured just like the "Pimp my Isaac" page, including a short tutorial with some code on how to add content to this page - this doesn't belong to the page itself, that's something you'd want to have as a thread on a forum. --Lynel (talk) 14:20, January 18, 2013 (UTC)
I also edited the Red Poop before noticing the carrion section. I'm not sure if it still should be entitled solely "AIDS", but my edit may have been out of place
Nah that title is just our daily troll. It's called Red Poop.
You blocked my account today. No reason was given. I was even blocked from editing my own page and user talk and, more importantly, other people's user talks, such as the admins I could plead my case to. I had to use a proxy to post this, because even my IP was blocked.
This happened right after a good faith edit which you reverted (and about which I still think I'm right, since I made that edit after observing a difference between the wiki and what I was seeing in-game, but I'm not going to enter an edit war over such a triviality).
Please be so kind as to unblock my account and apologize. Or at least unblock my account from using talk pages so I don't have to use a proxy to post here. --User:Jules.lt
You spammed spaces in the item tables. There are some trolls recently, who spam them just for fun, having doom to ban everyone to prevent further troll-activity.
The edit I made was to replace a 4 by a 6 for the book of Sin's recharge time. The bunch of spaces all over is a bug (or a troll with a very good trick). And I'm not the only victim of it, apparently. I still can't edit a talk page without a proxy, btw. Which is pointless and annoying.--User:Jules.lt
I'll try to change that single figure again, to see what happens.--User:Jules.lt
It's a good thing the page is semi-protected and I had to do it on my user page, because it happened again. I expected it to be because I was in "Visual" mode, but if I edit while viewing the source it does the same thing. In the future I'll make sure to check the "Show Changes" before publishing (even though it doesn't seem to work for me right now, but that might be because of the proxy). But at worst I can check my change afterwards and revert it myself if there's a bug. Now can you please unblock me?--User:Jules.lt
Thanks for the unblocking. You might want to look into the cases of the other people you blocked for the same reason, and who were less persistent than me. Also, you should make it a policy to allow blocked people to edit User Talk pages, so they can plead their case. Erf. --Jules.lt (talk) 17:51, January 28, 2013 (UTC)
Um...Doom? You remember that time I accidentally added my avatar's image to the entire wiki because I didn't know how to put them on my profile the right way? I'm sorry but it just happened again...
Please, can you delete all the images I just accidentally uploaded? I think I uploaded more than one this time. And can you also please tell me how to edit my profile in the future so embarrassing images like that don't show up on the entire wiki again? I'm very sorry about this mess.
Okay I can see an example of a photobucket image but that doesn't really enlighten me on how to use it (please excuse me if I'm being really stupid here, I have almost zero computer skills)
Whenever I'm in your userpage, a song plays, and it doesn't happen on any other userpages O_o. -- 14:17, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
Should we add a page about the Pink and the White glitches (you know, the glitches where the loading screen for a new level freezes for a while before turning pink or white and resuming the game)? It's just that I remember the first time I got that glitch, I thought the game was frozen for good so I quitted a run which otherwise had a lot of potential. I only realized the benign nature of these glitches when I was watching Let's Plays, so it would be nice to add a page about the glitches and remind new players that freezing on the loading screen doesn't ruin the game.
Add it under bugs, but not a single page for it. I always thought that was just a small loading time and the milky pink flash also never lasted longer than a few seconds.
Hey, have you ever defeated mom but no trapdoor to the womb/utero showed up? Flaming skull of heaven (talk) 15:00, February 3, 2013 (UTC)Skull
Yes that was when the addon came out. It has been fixed long since then and only pirates who are to cheap to buy a under 5$ game are having that bug anymore.
Apparently, only an admin can do this: could you please put Activated/Passives/Trinkets/Cards/Pills/Pick Ups as subcategories of Items in the navigation bar at the top? That would be really helpful.
Thanks--Jules.lt (talk) 20:11, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
The current navigation bar is awfull, yes. I'll change it once the templating of all items is done. Atracting attention to the activated and passives pages is certainly not wanted, as like in the past, people started editing information on subjects in all kinds of pages, but the items page itself.
When we get close to finishing the template stuff, I'll sit down and rework all the pages you mentioned to be a bit more helpfull and add them to the navigation.
Sorry about the slow speed, but there is only so much I can for now.
Kehehe, you may want to copy the one from the german wiki for now, because... You know, then you'd be copying something from me, which would be a welcome change :D I'm still feeling like some kind of leech that sucks the blood out of this site :x
What does "Collectible" exactly mean anyway? I'm pretty sure it includes passives, maybe activated items, but then why not trinkets, pills and cards?
I think that Faw is referring to Passives only, which don't have a category indeed --Jules.lt (talk) 17:17, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
Due to game mechnics we had to come up with destinctive names for groups of items. "Items includes" everything Isaac can somehow pick up. Collectibles are items that stay with Isaac forever during his journey, are shown in the collection and on Isaac's Last Will. Everything else including Trinkets belongs to "Pickups".
Maybe bullet points can help for a better understanding:
Items
Pickups
Bombs
Coins
Hearts
Usables
Tarot Cards
Pills
Trinkets
Collectibles
Activated
Passsive
PS: Please write down all your text in one go. It's super annoying to almost lose a text, because someone else is still editing the same page.
Ah, well in that case I think we need a Passive category and with the Activated Items category we'll be pretty much covered. --Jules.lt (talk) 18:30, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for deleting the page I made. Just trying to help. Wont happen again. IcedInsanity (talk) 02:38, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for checking if the page you made is already there (Spirit Of The Night). Just doing my job and keeping the wiki from getting a bloody mess. But hey, ignorance is bliss as they say.
Hi, I'm ok that there isn't yet a consensus on how to format pages, but a full undo of my revision on Knight is a bit excesive. The old article was a mess and at least I provided a clear structure, a rewrite, and the pictures were no longer messing with the text.
If there was somethign wrong with it, a edit of my edit would be better than a revert to a messy article. GryphusR (talk) 15:18, February 13, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, on the other hand please check [talk] where we could discuss about Technology and Robo-Baby. Technology right now hits foes behind rock cover. Could post proof pictures if that's the only way you trust me :p GryphusR (talk) 15:26, February 13, 2013 (UTC)
Just curious, no other person will tell me this. What program did you use to make The Binding of Isaac?
For the longest I've wanted to attempt at making a game and whatnot, but no one helped me out.
Could you tell me what program you used?173.217.193.35 00:54, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
I did not create this game. The origianl creators are Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl. The program used to make The Binding of Isaac was Adobe Flash.
I would suggest you try out Construct 2 if you want to create a quick game. It's easy to use and can teach you a about sprites and other things you might want to know.
For better in depth games Unity3d can be a pretty good game engine that is also free to use for private projects.
Yep. For most children, having to shave is the ultimate proof of adulthood. Since this game is about a small boy (and his world) I see no harm in keeping it there.
That's really, REALLY reaching to find a connection to the game. It's inane and irrelevant. However, now that I know the admin of this particular wiki has this mentality, I'll refrain from any further edits.
...Insult... people? Who was insulted? I suppose you could say that I insulted the trivia section, but beyond that, nobody was insulted. I'm sorry if you feel offended.
Fair enough. That said, I don't agree with your criteria for relevance and will be refraining from making any further contributions to this wiki. This is unfortunate, since I went to a bit of trouble recovering my Wikia account with the specific intent of improving this wiki's many factual inaccuracies, grammatical errors and generally irrelevant trivia sections.
Thanks for the welcome. I'll try to update as much as possible as I get combos confirmed. This site has proven invaluable for me, so I feel I have to give something back :D
Helping people I want this wiki is here for! It's nice that you want to contribute back something. ^^
As a site note: I just undid two of your edits, please don't feel bitter about it. And I want to know what nubs are? I bet you meant Boils. Anyway, don't let that discourage you.
I find that the BoI wiki comes up quite high when you look me up in google, and I find those 400 edits a bit embarrassing. Is there anyway tu change my username (to Groli, which I usually use in games) or, at worst, simply delete my account along with my user page and talk page?
Thanks --Jules.lt (talk) 15:50, February 25, 2013 (UTC)
You need to contact the wikia central since this chance is conducted across the wohle wikia network.
Five users recently trolled the wiki and attempted to deface the articles with random nonsense and profanities. I have summarized their identities for your convenience:
I read the post at https://gist.github.com/dpatti/4419061, however, we didn't see anything to confirm that information in the code. I'll give it another once over of the source posted on my Github, though! It's definitely worth another look.
I just reviewed the code.
haveEffect[46] is the Lucky Foot, and the logic on that is confirmed to be correct. I'll update my posts accordingly.

Your idea was that the luck stat doesn't affect these slots etc, that's understandable.
Hey, would you consider mini-bosses like Super Sloth "enemies" or "bosses"? -ZangiefB 03:54, March 10, 2013 (UTC)
They are neither of both. Their own category is "Mini-Boss" (or sins if you prefere that), since they have their own set of rules (own rooms with icon; limited spawn rate, unlike normal bosses etc).
I'm not saying it is a crime. The game doesn't belong here, and a blog or at least a Forum discussing whether we should have it put in the home page would have been enough. The community matter here, so maybe a Forum on whether or not it should stay should be put up. 20px"Steal from the best, and call it research!" 23:41, March 10, 2013 (UTC)
If we'd count people under 50 edits (no offense here, but many wikis have this as a commun requirement) as community, nothing ever would get done. If we're goint with above 50, nobody ever voiced any concers at all. In general putting up polls here only ends with annons that either: complain about changes or request stuff but are too lazy to contribute. Also, the campaign is it's final phase with only about 50 hours left.
Having a poll would be a terrible idea; I agree on that. We could have a Forum vote like we have on the fallout wiki: Having only registered users vote yes or no on the subject. 20px"Steal from the best, and call it research!" 08:02, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Sadly we don't have the masses that fallout draws in (although the vault moved some nukapedia is some kind of splinter group as well). So we have about 10 (?) actvive useres here. Does it make sense to put up a poll?
You moved / renamed multiple picture pages without leaving a redirection. This has caused that multiple icons on item page are missing links / broken right now: Collection & Items.
Hey Doom, I've been thinking the fan idea wiki has been neglected lately. Could you add a link to it on the home page so we can get as many fan idea contributors as we did before? I love seeing fan ideas. -ZangiefB 17:44, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Get an admin for the wiki then I can link it again.
Yeah I already made an account. I've decided to start cleaning up all of the individual item pages because the majority of them seem very incomplete. Soooooo yeah. If anything seems not to your liking or if there's something I missed or if the style is off please let me know.
By "incomplete" I just feel like a lot of smaller things about an Item aren't included, the big one being Synergies. Smaller stuff like the pick-up text needs some minor detailing as well, and a lot of the Items don't have Gallery photos.
EDIT: Forgot to log in. It's still early in the morning for me >.<
Yeah the single pages were made especially to point out detail about them. As long as nobody starts to write combos like "sacred heard + brimstone = oneshot bosses"! ^^
Hey, Doomspeaker, why are there so many empty sections in item pages, and why aren't these removed? Seeing an empty Synergies, Gallery, and Bugs section at once looks pretty unpleasant, so I suggest removing empty sections that nobody contributes to.
No no no, please don't remove them. They are there to show people where content is supposed to go. Before, a lot of info was just written somewhere on the article.
Agreed with not removing them. It was already difficult enough as it was for me to start putting things in when I started, because not all the sections were there, so I had to harvest the actual format from a bunch of item pages.
Grants you temporary invincibility, and causes you to damage enemies with touch. However, you cannot attack unless you're holding Mom's Knife. TIP: This is the same effect as My Little Unicorn, so this is best used when said item lacks charge. Unlike the Book of Shadows, this card can be used to obtain Devil Room items for free.
On this page it has info saying that you can obtain items from Devil Room for free, but it has been fixed on updates, so update the info? ( I can't edit since it's locked )
Why you delete this file? It's better for you to have non existing file on main page?--Bloodhit (talk) 14:03, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
Because we rename pictures so we don't need overwritten names.DoomspeakerTalkContributions 18:53, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
So why you don't do that? You changed mainpage something like 2 weeks ago, and still have non existing file and links. And none of menu icons don't have proper links to articles(|link=Article name).--Bloodhit (talk) 04:56, March 22, 2013 (UTC)
Because working with wikia is hard enough with a phone. We're not an official serviece and no admin had time to complete the task until now. Calm down or better go and contribute something we actually need.
This user started out with some potentially meaningful contributions, but more recently started putting garbage on, requiring multiple rollbacks and far-history undos. I would recommend that you address this matter to avoid further vandalism.
At first, I didn't think I would be, but it seems like I can't keep away to safeguard our wiki. I would like admin rights if you're OK with that. It would allow me to hand out bans and thwart trolls more easily. Like on this "Doomspeaker" character who just turned our wiki pink ;)
Hi doomspeaker. I only joined the wiki recently, so am getting used to talk system. Hopefully you will see this. I was playing yesterday and teleported to the shop in necropolis 1. Upon exiting, I found a room set out like a wrath miniboss room, but without wrath. I took the screenshot after grabbing all the bombs inside. The bombs had been strategically placed so that even without any bombs, you could enter from any door, and bomb your way to any other. As you can see, I had flight, and so this was not needed. Lots of free bombs!! This is my first attempt to talk. I have hopefully attached a photo. Jhill270 (talk) 00:52, April 2, 2013 (UTC)
Aye, while I already banned the troll I hereby grant you the power of a god an admin. I suggest banning annons for longer peroids of time in order to avoid chain trolling. If you have something like steam would be cool to add me there in the case of any urgent questions.
Are embedded autoplay videos allowed on your own profile page? (Assuming you can do that in the first place) Oil Rope Bombs (talk) 15:03, April 6, 2013 (UTC)
Hm on the profile page it's should be ok. Just stick to the golden rules for music on websites:
You might consider leaving autoplay off.
If you want autoplay, then no super high volume!
The music player must be clearly visible and easy to find so that people can turn it off if needed.
I won't be there for tech-support when it comes to improving your profile.
Hey Doomspeaker. I was just curious - How many members overall does this Wiki have? Jhill270 (talk) 07:41, April 11, 2013 (UTC)
The total number of normal users is around 1688. We have about 110 users with above 40 edits or more which probably is a more significat than the total number of users.
Hey Doomspeaker, can you please make 4 separate images of Cain, Isaac, Eve, and Judas from this pic?
I want to use them as my badges on Team Fortress 2. I'd really appreciate it if you do so.
Seriously? These are on one png, I think even paint can chop them to seperate files easily. The white rim makes it even more easy to correctly cut them out. Sorry, but I think you can easily do that yourself. ^^
Hi Doom, I have just had a couple of my edits reverted recently by OilRopeBombs, and I'm curious as to what is your stance on the following issues, (I have checked out Manual of Style beforehand, but it didn't offer any advice, so you might want to update it accordingly:)
Firstly, are we supposed to officially refer to the player character as just "player" or Isaac? I know that since the entire game is hallucination, there aren't technically any other characters besides Isaac, but this doesn't really have anything to do with the game mechanics and should probably be considered a spoiler, but that is just my opinion. Similarly, are we meant to refer to the enemy projectiles as shots, projectiles, blood globules (the terminology I used and which just got reverted) or something else entirely? This is something very inconsistent across the entire wiki, and it would be good if you could set a uniform standard for this.
Then, are there any limits on what information is useful and what isn't? I have added in info that Horfs and Gapers need three Strength 2 tears to die and deal out 1/2 of damage, but this was reverted as apparently being unnecessary. I strongly disagree with this approach, but I can live with it if you decide to enforce this (less work for me, after all.)
Finally, is the infobox thing that the Gaper article has meant to be added to all enemy pages or not? If so, perhaps it would be better to keep separate infoboxes and not tabberise them together, so that each infobox would be alongside the appropriate article.
Best regards.4Ferelden (talk) 13:09, April 19, 2013 (UTC)
Ok let's seem.
The manual of style is open to be edited by anyone, so feel free to suggest new entries or add them.
If you refere to the player character, use "Isaac". It is not a spoiler and your first character is Isaac anyway. If you refere to the actual player in from of the pc, well use "player".
The projectile naming is very inconsistent and bringing every article up to one norm is a sisyphos task. The best description would simply be "bullet".
The health entry of the infobox is to be filled in with an exact number, a task done later when I have more time at my disposal. 2 3 strenght tears isn't an info anybody can make good use of'.'
Most articles only mention damage that exceeds half a heart. That is fine as it is pretty self explanatory.
If you are not sure if the info is needed try to ask yourself if it isn't obvious already. If you are still not sure you can alway post it and others will revisit if needed.
Gaper mentions all monsters that fall under the group of gaper-like monsters. More infoboxes would only clog up the page, so the tabs help to keep the pages clean, but still easy to navigate.
What do you mean, number of tears isn't info anyone ca nmake good use of? It directly tells you how many shots unupgraded Isaac needs to kill a particular target and is far more useful than just writing low, medium, high. And while it might be obvious to those of us who played the game that the default for damage is 1/2 heart, we shouldn't assume that others will know it as well, so I believe it should stay. Finally, when I was mentioning the Gaper infobox, I meant if ALL enemy articles are meant to use one like that or not. I object to the use of tabber, because then one needs to scroll up and down the page repeatedly to see the relevant info for particular versions. I would say it's better to have an infobox for each variation right alongside it, like how Mass Effect wiki does it.
Thanks anyway. 4Ferelden (talk) 06:21, April 20, 2013 (UTC)
Each enemy has a certain value for health (Gaper has 10 for example). THIS DATA is meant to be there. Your idea for gauging enemy health will be usd when rebirth comes out, but for now he have a list of every monsters health, so that will be used.
There's always a problem with what is obvious and what is not in wikis. If about 60 articles have to mention that monsters deal 1/2 heart damage, you can be sure to that ist better should be. New players could not know that damage causes mercy invincibility, but that doesn't mean we need to mention it on every page that mentions damage.
The infox box does contain data that is already on the page. I refuse to put infoboxes on the side because all it does is to inflate the artilce to unneccesars lenghts.
I didn't revert your edits, just sayin'. All I did was change them a bit to match the style of the other articles. Everything else you put was still there. Oil Rope Bombs (talk) 11:58, April 20, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Doomspeaker, im doing good on the Boom Blox Wikia. But i want to tell you about the teaser of the Rebirth boss called the Haunt, can i make a page for the boss and then go back to making my WAD. Because i hardly every made a page, i only made a few on Boom Blox Wikia and expanded the Troll WADS section of the doom Wikia. I've just put the page up, so don't block me because the Haunt will soon get more information from consumers of the game!
The Haunts is a boss silhouette shown to us by ed. As for now all Rebirth content goes straight to the rebirth page. The picture is already there, so nothing left to do for now.
OK i know that because we will help the entire Wikia foundation bit by bit while i help the Boom Blox Wikia, preferably by advertising it! 86.140.64.155 20:42, April 24, 2013 (UTC)
I could prevent the page creation, but I like seeing the blockhead creating the same page oven and over again.
Even though you are an admin, you are still bound to the same standards of politeness and credibility as the rest of us. I would much appreciate it if you actually checked your facts before reverting page edits and if you would at least attempt to be polite in reverting page edits, especially considering that this has already happened once before with Money Equals Power in which case you were also provably wrong. In this case, I felt it was appropriate to add the comment to Sacred Heart considering that a similar comment "This is currently the rarest item in the entire game" was already present on Epic Fetus, a provably false statement. I have no qualms about both of these statements being deemed "personal opinions" but once again I do not appreciate being spoken down to for attempting to improve the quality of the wiki by fixing a provably incorrect statement. Thank you and good day. Fefferburbia (talk) 15:38, May 17, 2013 (UTC)
No idea what you mean by the Money Equals Power case. It's fine if you remove incorrect statements like "the rarest item". (Nobody talked you down for editing the Epic Fetus article.) This, however, does not give you the right to later add it to another article without having any evidence to prove it.
While I'd love to say that everybody has the same credibility on the Wiki, sadly this isn't true at all.
Please let me explain why:
The wiki get's its fair share of edits which stem from people's personal opinion rather than facts. Most don't bother to confirm their claims or take into account the influence of other item/mechanics/etc. Some edits are from pirates that still use outdated versions of the game. In short, many editors don't think before editing (sorry for the hard choice of words, but tag along a few weeks and you'll see what I meant). As part of my routine I go out and try to test out these claims. Certain other users (admins amongst them) do that as well. Of course these people will have the last say.
This sounds unfair to new users, but without any kind of system, the wiki would be already flooded with false information. Always try to back up hard to prove info with some sort of evidence, or in case of doubt, go and open a thread about the subject in the forum.
